Harness Lessons (On & Off Ice)
How It Works
The harness is not designed to mechanically lift you into the air or do the work for you.
To get the most out of the training, the skater must still execute the correct take-off, use their own power, and find their own height. Instead, the coach uses the harness as a safety net.
-
Slowing the Fall: The primary job of the harness is to catch you at the peak of your jump and gently slow your descent. This eliminates the fear of a hard fall, giving you the mental freedom to fully commit to the rotation.
-
Fixing Air Position: By controlling the descent, we can pause or slow down the landing phase. This lets us correct your body alignment, air position, and axis in real-time.
-
Building Muscle Memory Off-Ice: Our off-ice harness allows you to practice the complex mechanics of spinning and jumping without the slick surface of the ice. It builds the necessary core strength and fast twitch muscle memory before you ever lace up your skates.
-
Accelerating Confidence On-Ice: Once we take the harness onto the ice, you can attempt bigger, faster jumps with total peace of mind, knowing you are completely secure.
Whether you are learning your single jumps off the ice or perfecting a double or triple axel on the rink, harness training is one of the safest and most effective ways to progress.
At JPSkate, we offer both on-ice and off-ice harness lessons to help skaters build confidence, muscle memory, and flawless technique.

From beginners conquering their fear of leaving the ice to advanced skaters tracking toward competitive rotations, our harness lessons provide the perfect, supportive environment to take flight!
